## Preparation

**General steps:**

- Make sure all battery-powered hardware components are fully charged.
- Avoid rooms with direct sunlight and many reflective surfaces.
- Start the VR headset.
- Set up a virtual boundary (playspace). See [Set up play space](https://wiki.vrhandhygiene.com/ai/en/installation/play-space.md).
- Start the PC and log in to your user profile.

**Optional steps:**

If you are using a laptop:

- Connect the laptop power supply to the mains and plug it into the laptop.

If you are using a wired connection:

- Connect your VR headset and your PC with a USB 3.0 cable.

If you are using a dedicated Wi-Fi router for wireless transmission:

- Connect the Wi-Fi router to the mains and switch it on.
- Connect the Wi-Fi router and the PC with a network cable.
- Connect the VR headset to the Wi-Fi router's wireless network.

> **WARN — Network cable in the correct port:**: Do not plug the network cable into the WAN port (Internet), but into one of the regular network ports on the router.

> **TIP — Recommendation:**: To ensure a reliable connection, connect the PC to the router with a LAN cable rather than over Wi-Fi. A wired connection offers better latency and signal stability than a wireless one.

## Overview

Starting ViRTUE generally involves the following steps:

1. Start the PC
2. Start the VR headset
3. Connect the VR headset to the PC
4. Start SteamVR
5. Start ViRTUE
